Los Angeles (Kabc) – The Battle of Eric and Lile Mindeys will continue for freedom this week when the brothers face a separately relevant plate.
The Battle of Eric and Lille Mendes for freedom will continue on Thursday and Friday when the brothers face the conditional release council separately.
The brothers were convicted of killing their parents in 1989 at their home in Beverly Hills. They were sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of conditional release. Layl Mindez was 21 years old, and Erik Mindez was eighteen years old at the time of the crime. They said they committed self -defense murders after years of abuse by their father.
Interest was renewed in the Manendez Brothers case in May 2023 after documents revealed new evidence that cooperated with Eric and Laila’s allegations of abuse of their mother, and a campaign began to allow them to get out of the conditional release.
Here is what can be expected from the conditional listening sessions and what led to this point:
What will happen during the conditional listening sessions of Erik and Lille Mindez?
Remote hearings will be held on Thursday and Friday. “The first day will be Eric, the second day will be a night,” said their lawyer Mark Giragos.

“There will be different members of the conditional release council every day. There will be different lawyers from the DA office every day as well, it is what I understand,” said Geragos. “You will have different procedures. Every brother, if you will, stand or fall alone.”
The council can decide whether they will have after three decades in prison for killing their parents.
How is Eric and Lil Mindez eligible for a conditional release now?
The Manendez brothers became eligible to attend a listening session for the conditional release after the court resented both of life without the possibility of conditional release to 50 years in prison (25 years in each of the two charges of first -class killing).
Because of this resentment, it is eligible to obtain the listening sessions that are now conditional on the laws of the conditional and the conditional release of the youth.
How did Eric and Lille Mindez respond after their dissatisfaction?

“I killed my mother and my father,” Lille Mindez told the judge. “I don’t give excuses.”
Lille Mindez admitted to committing the right by lying in the court in the nineties and apologized to his family for years of lies, shock and sadness.
Eric Menendes also admitted to lying for years and apologized.
“I committed a terrible act,” he told the judge. “… there is no justification for what I did.”
Eric Mendez added that he “made a long way on this path” from redemption and said: “I will not stop trying to make a change.”
What led to Eric and Lille Mindez’s resentment to kill their parents?
In May 2023, a former member of the Boys Minoudo group said in a written certificate that he was raped by Jose Minindiz when he was 14 years old.
Then the Manendez Brothers’ lawyer gave a petition requesting the court to reconsider the conviction of brotherhood and prison sentence in light of new evidence from the Minudo group member and from Eric books on ill -treatment before the killings.
Then in September 2024, the crime drama of Netflix renewed the brotherhood and murder of the public’s interest in the case.
A month later, more than twenty relatives of the Manendez brothers announced an alliance urging the authorities to review the case. The family asked Eric and Layl to be condemned to take it out, or to conduct a new trial or resent it in light of the evidence that the brothers were victims of the ill -treatment of their father.
A week later, then Angelus’s boycott was recommended that Da George Jaskoun recommended that the judge resented the brotherhood.

What is considered during the conditional hearing?
Members of the Conditional Release Council must decide whether the imprisoned person pose a danger to society if he is released from prison, according to the California Reforms and Rehabilitation Ministry.
To make the decision, the board of directors will consider the history of the criminal person and correction records of the person. The Board of Directors will also hear data from the person, the family of the victims, the public prosecutor’s office and the public.
What does the Los Angeles County lawyer say about the Manendez Brothers?
Earlier this month, the Los Angeles County lawyer, Nathan Hoachman, officially opposed the brothers’ offer to the conditional release.
On Wednesday, Hochman issued a statement repeating his opposition to the release of brotherhood.
Hoshman said in the statement: “We constantly opposed their release because they did not show a complete insight into their crimes or showed that they had been completely rehabilitated, and thus continued in danger to society,” Hachman said in the statement. “We will evaluate our final position based on the evidence presented in the session.”

What do the Eric and Laila Mindez family say about the conditional release session?
The Menendez Brothers has created justice for ERIK and Lyle coalition, which called for the versions of the brothers over the past two years.
“As always, our family remains optimistic with caution, and heating ourselves in the fact that the conditional release in California is incredibly strict, with a decrease in grant rates,” the family said in a statement. “We respect that and know that Eric and at night are ready for this level of scrutiny.”
In the statement, the family said that Eric and Laila Mindez assumed full responsibility for the murders and showed a “sincere remorse” for the family.
“The thing that really remained with us, especially since we are near conditional listening sessions, is what Judge Jesic said during discontent: Although Erik and Lyle have an excellent record, the family was support letters of individuals who never talked about an imprisoned person before that,” the family continued in the statement.

What happens after the conditional release session?
If the conditional release is rejected, the person can ask the council to review the case to obtain errors in fact and know if it is corrected, will this lead to a different result.
If the conditional release is granted, the chief adviser to the conditional release council will take up to 120 days after the hearing to review the decision of legal or realistic errors.
If the conditional release approval is supported, the case is sent to .gov. Gavin New Newsom 30 days will have either a conditional release, or the reversal or amendment of the decision.
If the conditional release is granted, they will be qualified to release immediately after the decision is completed, which takes about five months, according to CDCR.
“Newsom can also exercise its compassion or release the Manendez brothers at any time,” said office.
