(Krona) – The first death of Carvintanel registered in Santa Clara was confirmed by a medical examiner on Wednesday.
The Santa Clara County Office said in the medical examiner that the victim was a 39 -year -old man who was found dead with fake M30 pills. The pill is manufactured to look like Oxycodone.
Instead of Oxycodone, the pill contained Carvintanel – the sedative used in elephants and other large mammals, according to the officials of the Drug Control Administration in the United States. Health officials have warned of Carvinanel for human consumption.
“Carvinanel is an artificial phoneta nearly 10,000 times more powerful than morphine and 100 times more powerful than fentanel. The presence of Carvintanil in the illegal American drug market is the cause of anxiety, because the relative strength of this drug can lead to an increase in an overdose and dose -related deaths.”
The province’s health officials said that most of the opium pills sold by drug dealers on the street are fake and made them look like real prescription medications that come in different types, shapes and colors.
“The use of drugs alone increases the risk of death. We urge people to avoid the risks of opiates, especially fake pills that may contain Carvintane or Fintanel,” said Dr. Michel Gordon, head of medical examinations in Santa Clara Province. “Fake pills look real, but they can be fatal. People should not take any pills they do not buy from the pharmacy.”
The name of the victim was not released.
Health officials said that people should call the number 911 immediately if they faced a person who does not respond and run Narcan, also known as the Naluxon.
“We believe that every life is important and no one should die from an overdose. We reach society with tools such as drugs that are reflected on the extra dose, drug test tapes, and help in entering treatment when someone is ready,” said Dr. Akancha Vidia, Assistant Health Officer in the damage program.
