Early-morning Alameda apartment fire displaces 10 people

(Krona) – Ten people were displaced early on Tuesday morning when a fire broke out in a residential complex on Islama Point. According to the Olitida Fire Department, the firefighters responded before 12:30 am on Tuesday to a residential complex located in 170 blocks from W. Atlantic Ave.

Firefighters have received multiple fire alarms from the building. Upon arrival, the crews found the entrance on the third floor filled with black smoke and one unit with a certain fire.

AFD response included three engines, two trucks, two paramedics, Alaameda Care team and chief officials. The firefighters searched the affected apartment, the surrounding apartments were evacuated and finished the fire, which was suppressed by the building’s extinguishing machine guns.

One victim was treated and released at the scene. The crews also made extensive efforts to reduce the amount of damage to the water on the first, second and third floors.

The Red Cross and Alaameda Building Inspector were requested to the scene. About 10 people were displaced. However, there were no firefighters or other community members.
