Dustin Poirier Sends Training Partner Mateusz Gamrot Three-Word Message Ahead of Ludovit Klein Clash

UFC Vegas 107 is finally here, and #7-ranked lightweight Mateusz Gamrot will be seen squaring up against unranked Ludovit Klein in its co-main event. Gamrot is coming off a loss against Dan Hooker in UFC 305, and has been training with Dustin Poirier for a much needed bounce back.

Both fighters often share their banter during sparring and give updates on their training on social media. This time, as the fight is about to happen, Poirier shared some motivational words for his sparring partner.

Dustin Poirier Motivates Mateusz Gamrot Before His Fight With Ludovit Klein

Both Poirier and Gamrot train at American Top Team (ATT) in Florida. While “The Diamond” is preparing for his last fight in the UFC against Max Holloway, “Gamer” has been training to take on Slovak fighter Ludovit Klein.

As UFC Vegas 107 official weigh-ins were done, Gamrot shared footage of him facing off against Klein during the ceremonial weigh-ins on Instagram. Poirier, being a supportive sparring partner, shared the post on his Instagram story and wrote a three-word caption that said, “Lets go Gamer.”

The Klein fight is crucial for Gamrot if he wants to stay in the notice for a potential lightweight title shot in the future. A dominant finish will be ideal for that. On the other hand, Poirier has missed three chances at the undisputed UFC lightweight title, and it is doubtful whether he will get another shot at the gold. That’s probably the biggest reason why he decided to retire from UFC with a legendary farewell fight.

Gamrot’s Sparring With Poirier Almost Went Too Far

It is often heard that fighters like to train harder in the gym so that the actual fight will seem easier for them. On top of that, Poirier is not someone who has soft hands, and neither is he known to go light in training. However, this hardcore training almost caused some trouble for Gamrot.

During a recent interview on “The Ariel Helwani Show”, Gamrot appeared bruised all over his face. When asked about it, he replied, “Just a normal day in the ATT office…Light sparring with Dustin this morning. Everything is fine. I’m just scratched and a little bit swollen. I feel great. I feel amazing.”

However, it is not only Poirier who gave Gamrot a hard time. The Polish fighter has also landed some heavy shots earlier, and “The Diamond” even shared a friendly warning footage about it in which he said, “Mateusz, you dirty dog. You beat me up, you busted my good ear. I can forgive, but I cannot forget. I’m gonna get you back, bro. Count your days, young man.”

It seems like Poirier returned the favor to Gamrot, probably a bit too much. However, both fighters have been training partners for a long time and have mutual respect for each other.
