The Miami Dolphins finally notched their first win of the 2025 season on Monday night, defeating their AFC East rival, the New York Jets. But the victory came with some devastating news.
Star wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a gruesome leg injury that ended his season. With Hill sidelined, Miami will need others to step up. One Pro Bowler made his feelings clear on what the Dolphins’ offense will look like without their star wideout.
Dolphins Star Speaks Out on Replacing Tyreek Hill
While Miami’s offense has had its fair share of struggles this season, Hill has been a bright spot. Through three games, he earned a PFSN WRi grade of 84.3, the ninth-highest mark in the league.
Unfortunately, during Miami’s Monday night win, Hill dislocated his knee and tore his ACL. He will undergo surgery on Tuesday and is out for the season.
Replacing Hill will be no small task, as he currently leads the team in both receptions and receiving yards. Without his consistent production, Miami will need other players to step up.
One of those players is 2020 Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller, who came out of retirement in 2025 to play for the Dolphins.
After Hill’s devastating injury, Waller explained that while Miami cannot replace its star wideout, he believes the team has enough talent on the roster to keep the offense performing at a high level in Hill’s absence.
“There’s no replacing him, but I feel like we [sic] got guys that can get the job done,” Waller said.
Hill is a special talent and certainly challenging to replace, but as Waller points out, Miami does have other playmakers on offense. Waller made his 2025 debut on Monday and was impressive, catching four passes for 27 yards and two touchdowns.
Beyond himself, in Hill’s absence, the Dolphins will lean heavily on wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and running back De’Von Achane.
Tyreek Hill Injury Update: Latest on the Dolphins WR After Exiting Week 4 vs. Jets
So far this season, Waddle has been a reliable option for Miami, catching 23 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Through four games, he’s earned a PFSN WRi grade of 81.9, the 15th-highest mark in the league.
Achane has also been a standout for Miami this season, totaling 246 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground while adding 143 yards and two scores as a receiver. He’s earned a PFSN RBi grade of 84.9, the sixth-best mark in the NFL.
Miami’s offense currently holds a PFSN OFFi grade of 77.1, ranking 15th in the NFL, right near the middle of the pack.
As Waller emphasized, with Hill sidelined, the Dolphins’ other playmakers will need to elevate their performances if the team hopes to maintain that ranking. If they fail to do so, Miami’s offense could quickly slide toward the bottom of the league.
After their 1-3 start, Miami’s schedule doesn’t appear to get easier. While the Dolphins travel to Carolina to take on the Panthers this week, down the pipeline are games against the Chargers, Browns, Falcons, Ravens, Bills, and Commanders, before they get their Week 12 bye.
