Austin (KXAN) – Deloris Herta, a Labor and Human Rights Activist, in Austin this week, speaks against controversial Texas maps in Congress.
Hyrta, the co -founder of the 95 -year -old United Farms, will join, pool In the Capitol on Saturday.
It is part of the national movement called the National Day of Action.
“We are trying to save our democracy, and when people are taken away from them, this is a very crucial moment,” said Herta.
The march on Saturday comes after more than 50 democratic democrats in the parliament left the state to break the quorum, which delayed the vote on the proposed congressional maps in Texas.
The maps transport some of the fair and democratic from their current areas and place them in another region, either in competition with a current Republican member or in competition with someone in their party.
It is a step to secure five additional seats for the Republican Party at the American House before the 2026 elections. It comes after a request from President Donald Trump.
Critics argue that it is not fair to negatively affect minority voters.
