Dick Van Dyke is celebrating a major marriage milestone — and honoring the woman he says keeps him young at heart.
The Hollywood legend marked 14 years of marriage to wife Arlene Silver in a sweet social media video on Sunday, March 1, crediting his partner for his continued good health.
Van Dyke, 100, tied the knot with his makeup artist wife, 54, on February 29, 2012. Because they wed on Leap Day, the couple technically celebrates their official anniversary only once every four years.
To mark the occasion this year Silver told fans on her Instagram page that a “very special guest” would be joining her video. She then moved around the camera to reveal the beloved Mary Poppins actor cozied up on the bed beside her.
“My husband is here!” she told viewers with a grin.
“Hi, she’s mine!” Van Dyke shot back, flashing his signature humor.
Silver went on to explain that Van Dyke’s appearance was unplanned, calling it “very impromptu” and sharing that the actor “said he wanted to be here on our anniversary”.
In honor of the big day, the Emmy winner also looked back on how their love story began. The couple first met at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2006, and Van Dyke vividly remembered spotting Silver across the room.
“I was sitting in the green room where everybody waits to go on, and the place is full of actors and actresses,” he recalled in the video. “One thing about Hollywood actresses, they’re pretty heads on stick figures. So I know them in a minute.”
Then came the moment that changed everything.
“I was sitting there just by myself, all of a sudden, I see this vision approaching me. No stick figure, gorgeous!” he continued.
“I don’t know what hit me, but I just did it. I invited her to sit down, we chatted a while, turns out she was a makeup gal, so I hired her on the spot,” he added. The pair then became romantically linked in the months that followed.
In November 2025, Van Dyke praised his partner for everything she does for him. “She’s responsible for keeping me in the moment,” he told People at the time “She kept me happy every day of my life, every day. She’s a joy. She can get me singing or dancing and she carries so much responsibility… I’m just lucky.”
