While Denver ranks first of the lowest rates to leave at the time specified in June, the airport or airlines may not be. Denver is known as one of the most unrest in the country due to its proximity to the mountains, which can often cause delays.
Sulte Lake City has some of the most departed time during the summer. While this airport is also located near the mountains, Dave Keningham, DIA Operations Manager, told Fox31 that the airport is located in the west of the mountains, instead of the east like Dia, which is located on the descending side of the typical wind flow.
Therefore, when the air moves to the western side of Rocky, it goes to the eastern side, where Dia sits, causing turbulent waves across the eastern plains, according to Caningham. This can cause delay because the pilots may need to control their methods or redirect the journey around the disorder.
