Denver rises to top 10 cities for dogs biting mail carriers: USPS data

Denver (KDVR) – Denver jumped into cities categories with most of the bitten mail carriers accidents.

The American Postal Post Service Service released accidents for dog bite for 2024 on Thursday, and revealed that Denver had 10 incidents of any city in the United States

Last year, Denver ranked No. 18 with 21 dog bite incidents. This amount increased significantly to 34 accidents in 2024.

Los Angeles remained at the top of the list with 77 dog bite incidents.

While the dog bite numbers in Denver were higher than most cities, the upper city has seen a worse tendency before. In 2011, the postal service reported 35 dog attacks on the postcards in Denver. This number rose to 41 in 2013 and again to 47 in 2016, when Denver fell in the United States at the time.

Colorado was not among the 10 best states of dog bite incidents that involve mail holders.

The American Postal Service said that there are more than 6000 dog bite cases in 2024.

The postal service begins a month -old campaign on June 1 with the topic “Insurance of your dog, and delivery transportation on the right track”, to raise awareness about how to help the population keep post companies safe from dog attacks.

The postal service said that the mail companies trained to respect the dogs of the dog, but they said that the owners can help by securing their dogs at a time when the postal holder comes and ensuring that dogs are on the positions if they are outside this time.

The postal service also said that the population and children should not accept the mail from the carrier in the presence of a dog, as the dog may look at the carrier as a threat.
