Denver Public Schools will not close additional schools in 2025

Denver (KDVR) – The Denver Public School area feels the impact of changes in the metro area. Low birth rates and residential challenges lead to a decrease in enrollment.

The school council voted to close seven schools and restructure another three by Denver Schools The prosperity initiative.

Although the boycott will not close any additional schools in 2025, a spokesperson for Fox31 is expected to enter 6000 students in the school system by 2029, a 8 % decrease that can pay additional changes in the coming years.

“This is not something we want to do ever, something we feel we have to do and do it as a result of our commitment to providing a high level of service for all children,” said Andrew Huber, CEO of campus planning.

Tara Johnson Fox31 told her daughter not anymore her neighborhood school because of the closure, but instead she will start riding a bus to a new school in the fall located about two miles away.

“This is a different school, a new school; I will not be able to walk there,” she said.

Johnson says she is concerned about the ability to treat any problems that quickly affect her child’s welfare.

Johnson said: “I want to make sure that she is safe and all that is happening to her to improve her,” Johnson said.

The Denver School area currently includes about 90,000 students, but this number will change according to the strategic regional analysis of DPS, which determines expectations for registration over the next five years. The report shows a pattern of declining registration since 2019, which is expected to continue until 2029.

He said: “Things that resemble special offers, choices, additional support and services that we know that all our children deserve them, become more difficult and difficult to maintain them financially.”

Hopper added that it is important to address the enrollment numbers carefully in order to maintain the quality of educational programs.

“We think it is the result of that process, we are in size to the right of the boycott in relation to the current enrollment,” said Hopper.
