Denver (KDVR) – about 200 million dollars: that is, the amount of money that Denver needs to compensate for the 2026 budget before the workers were widespread last month.
“It seems already that important things are not funded. So this makes me wonder, yes, what things are obtained,” said Christian Green, a resident of Denver.
The announcement of last month from the mayor’s office, which will be canceled 928, decreased. Among these, 171 of the demobilization of workers, and others were vacant sites. The city has achieved about $ 100 million of discounts for its budget for the next year.
But at the city council meeting, an agreement was reached between the Denver Police Protection Association and the city, which increases the police batches for the next three years. The mayor’s office issued a statement:
“The Denver Police Department continues to develop installed strategies and implement them that reduces the crime, and to make our city a more vital place to live. Public safety is the top priority of Mayor Johnston, and it is proud to provide fair salaries and negotiations for the police force in our city as part of the comprehensive strategy of the Ministry to attract and keep senior employees.”
The mayor’s office says that these changes on the salaries of officers are the key to the future of the city. Those around Denver would like to see money go to another place.
“More infrastructure of the city, as you know, mental health services, more opportunities, as you know, low -income housing, help the homeless, such things,” Green said.
Others say they want the money to go to those who are affected by the city’s hairstyles.
Another of Denver residents said: “They must return it to the city because the city put everyone on the vacation and this will help every person whose jobs were descended to continue their lifestyle.”
