Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes suffered an embarrassing 52-17 loss to the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday at Folsom Field. This loss also contributed to the squad’s ongoing struggles within the Big 12 play, as they are 1-5 in conference play.
The Buffaloes now hold a record of 3-6 overall this season, and Sanders was once again at a loss for words following his squad’s painful Saturday night loss.
Deion Sanders Delivers Passionate Message to Colorado Recruits After Arizona Loss
With Saturday’s loss, Colorado has now been blown out in back-to-back weeks, marking a new low for Sanders in his third year in Boulder. However, he still tried to deliver a promising message to recruits to stay interested in the Buffaloes.
“I don’t have to explain they saw it, so you got to understand,” Coach Prime said. “If you a dawg, you wanna come here and right the wrong. If you a cat, you look at the scoreboard and run. Which one are you?”

The loss followed last week’s 53-7 thrashing at the hands of the Utah Utes, marking the first time since the final three games of the 2022 season that Colorado has surrendered 50 or more points in back-to-back games.
Sanders was linked to several schools during the offseason, but he opted to remain at Colorado to show that his loyalty wasn’t tied to his sons, Shedeur and Shilo. However, with the departures of Shedeur and Travis Hunter, Coach Prime’s coaching ability has faced questions and doubts this season.
These on-field struggles came as Sanders has continued to battle health issues after being diagnosed earlier this year with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, leading to surgery to remove his bladder. However, he dismissed any outside criticism with his trademark confidence.
“I don’t give a darn about criticism,” Sanders said. “I’m telling you, it’s on me. Criticize me. I’ve been criticized when I came out the womb. The doctor didn’t even like it. I’m good, so it’s on me. I know what the situation is. I know what the problem is.
“I don’t doubt me. Let’s get that straight. I don’t doubt me, so next question. The confidence level of me doing this job? I’m built for this. I don’t doubt me.”
Sanders also took full responsibility for the team’s lack of performance on Saturday while saying that any criticism should be directed at him. However, he barred players from speaking to the media after the game, marking the first time in his three-year tenure that no players were made available postgame.
Before the loss, the Buffaloes were ranked No. 38 in the PFSN College Football Playoff Meter.
