Deborra-Lee Furness Settles Divorce From Hugh Jackman

Deborra-Lee Furness has filed for divorce from Hugh Jackman and a settlement has been reached, Closer can confirm.

According to online records viewed by Closer, the complaint was filed on May 23 in New York. The former couple worked out the terms of their split behind the scenes. Her lawyer, Elena Karabatos, also submitted a notice of automatic orders, a notice concerning continuation of healthcare coverage, a settlement, a proposed judgment of divorce and a certificate of dissolution among other documents.

The Daily Mail was first to report the news.

“A settlement was reached that Deborra is pleased with which includes a handsome spousal support payment,” a source told the outlet.

“There was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement but, in the end, she got what she believed she deserved. Both are coming out of this financially secure,” the source added. “There is not going to be any drama with this gives closure that she needed.”

They are awaiting a judge to sign off on the judgement.

Jackman and Furness first announced their split in September 2023.

“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives,” they said in a joint statement to People at the time.

“This is the sole statement either of us will make,” the statement concluded.

The pair were married for 27 years before announcing their split. They have two children, Oscar, 25, and Ava, 19.

The news comes amid Jackman’s romance with The Music Man costar Sutton Foster, whom he was seen holding hands with and kissing in photos snapped in January. And sources have told Closer that their relationship has gotten pretty serious — so much so, that Jackman was already thinking of marriage.

“Hugh would love to put a ring on her finger right now and privately he has said that but publicly he will wait to make any moves until everything is settled in both of their splits. The optics of going too quickly wouldn’t be good, but the sooner they’re both officially divorced, the sooner they can marry,” an insider told Closer in January.

The source said the realization came for the Greatest Showman actor after spending the holidays traveling.

“Hugh had a lot of back and forth while he was in Australia for the holidays but ultimately, he realized how much he missed her. The magic came flooding back when they reunited and ultimately marriage is the end game for these two. Hugh is clear he wants to make Sutton his wife,” the source added.

Foster is currently embroiled in her own divorce from Ted Griffin. They were married for 10 years and share a 7-year-old daughter named Emily.

A separate source previously told Closer that Jackman and Foster were spending time together at his new place in NYC after their splits from their spouses.

“They’re making his new place their own. She’s keeping her place for when she’s got her daughter, but the rest of the time she’s with Hugh,” the insider said in February.
