Death investigation underway in NW Harris Co. after man found shot to death outside Bammel N. Houston gas station

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — An investigation is underway in northwest Harris County after Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said a man was shot and killed outside a gas station.

Deputies responded to a shooting in the 119000 block of Pammel Road in Houston on Friday morning, Gonzalez said.

ABC13 obtained surveillance video of the shooting and the moments leading up to it from a nearby business.

The video shows three people walking away from the pumps and appearing to exchange a few words. While two of them walked away from the camera, the third person was seen pulling out a gun and firing.

“It appears we have a large number of firearm casings in front of the store, so there will likely be a lot of gunshots,” Gonzalez said. “Our deputy happened to be very close to here, so he arrived within a short time frame, just a few minutes, and he and another 4th District Police deputy who was in the area began trying to administer life-saving measures, CPR, to no avail.”

There is no information on descriptions or arrests of any suspects. Investigators said an area hospital contacted the Sheriff’s Office about a man who arrived shortly after the shooting with a gunshot wound. Investigators said they were questioning the man to determine if he was involved.

Texaco owner Iqbal Naveed spoke to ABC13. He said his company also recorded the shooting on surveillance video, which he provided to investigators. He said he hopes something will be caught that will point police in the right direction.

“This is hurting my business and scaring my customers, but what can I do? I can’t do anything,” Naveed said.

ABC13’s SkyEye flew over the scene, where several police cars surrounded the store, with red and yellow caution tape.

According to HCSO, due to the shooting, the Klein Independent School District has placed several nearby schools in safe mode.
