(Krona) – The city of Benissia issued a “water shortage” alert on Wednesday after the drinking water transport line was severely damaged. Residents, companies, schools and community institutions are urgently urged to reduce water use.
The damage occurred near Judyer and Muro Lin.
The city leaders said in a press statement: “The Benicia public works crews assess the damages and work with contractors to restore the water line as soon as possible.” “In response to the situation, the city announced a” critical water shortage “alert in the fourth stage, which requires a 40 % decrease in the use of water at the city level.”
Residents and companies are required to do the following to help maintain water:
- Short the shower to no more than five minutes.
- Run the dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads.
- Stop all unnecessary external water. No washing a car and filling billiards.
Meanwhile, officials said the city depends on Hermann Lake, the secondary water source. The officials added: “While the water from Hermann Lake may sometimes have a natural or dirt taste due to organic compounds, it remains safe to drink and meet all federal and federal water quality standards.”
