MISSOURI CITY, Texas (KTRK) — Several lanes of Interstate 90A at Cravens Road were closed after an Amtrak train and an 18-wheeler crashed Tuesday, officials said.
According to TranStar, the accident was reported at approximately 11:35 a.m. Tuesday. The accident occurred between an Amtrak train and an 18-wheeler, Missouri City reported.
Officials said Missouri City firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished a fire resulting from the accident. According to the city, a hazardous materials team also responded to the scene.
According to officials, emergency crews responded to evaluate the train’s passengers. There are no serious injuries, according to officials who spoke with ABC13.
A METRO bus has been prepared to assist and transport passengers, city officials said.
ABC13 spoke with passengers after the incident, who said the train was traveling from Los Angeles to Houston.
One westbound lane is currently open, with all eastbound lanes also open, city officials said.
Authorities advised people to avoid the area and to expect traffic delays.
SkyEye flew over the scene on Tuesday at around 12:30 p.m. and captured images of the aftermath. SkyEye also showed a crowd of people sitting on the side of the road.
