KDVR – The high temperatures for this week are expected to attract thousands to the Lakes and Colorado cabinets. Many will try to exercise like Paddeboarding for the first time.
“It is good to be here with friends and family and get a little water here in the city,” said one of the visitors at Cherry Creek State Park.
What seems simple and enjoyable can be fatal, especially in the summer season in Colorado when the hanging weather conditions can quickly affect the water stream. Four rowing incidents in Colorado resulted in three deaths during the past year.
“The weather may change, you can fall, you can hit your head, and may become unconscious.”
Siubert warned that many visitors are taking a serious assumption about water safety.
“… they do not need a survival jacket and we always want to say the escape jackets, you are not, and you can save life.”
Survival jackets are required on any boat, rowing, boat, kayak boats in addition to a whistle or sound production device. CPW has a survival jacket loan program in many government parks.
Always secure your name, address and phone number on the racket or water boat board.
“This is only if he was washed on the beach, we can check you,” said Siubert.
It is important to share a float plan that determines your location with others, wear water temperature, not the temperature abroad and take a friend to reduce risks.
