KDVR-Colorado Parks and wildlife make a mandatory closure of fishing for a full day, according to a press statement from the agency.
The closure will cover an approximate extension at a height of 0.6 miles from the YAMPA River between the dam in Stagecoach State Park and DowNSTREAM to the minimum garden.
Low water flow from the Stagecoach reservoir means that CPW wanted to avoid fish mortality in rear fish fisheries.
“We are trying to be proactive in protecting the distinctive fish fisheries and release that we have towards the StageCoach cabinet,” Marisa Eli, a water biologist in the CPW STIMBOat Area, said in a press release. “This closure is an attempt to protect the supplier by giving fish a little from decline because they are subject to increased pressure on these low -flow conditions.”
CPW said that when the flow of water is minimal, the fish becomes focused in the remaining billions of billiards and become tense due to the increased competition for food resources, which means that the fish become much easier goals for fishermen, and additional strain of fishing can lead to increased death.
The CPW remains in contact with the Yampa Water Conservancy, which oversees the Stagecoach reservoir.
“We are grateful to our partnership with UYWCD,” said Craig Preston, the director of Stagecoach Park. “Their dedication to keeping us up to water flows inside and outside the tank contributes greatly to protecting these unique fisheries of current and future generations.”
