Colorado confirms first West Nile virus death in Lafayette adult

Denver (KDVR) – The first humanitarian death of the West Nile virus was confirmed this year in Colorado on Friday.

In a press release to Fox31, the Ministry of Public Health and Environment at Colorado and Bulder Province said that the death was for an adult in Lafayette.

“We feel deep sadness to confirm the first death of the West Nile virus in our state this year. This tragic loss confirms the dangerous nature of this virus and why personal protection is very vital.” ))

Western Nile virus was found in mosquitoes in eight of 16 provinces tested, including:

  • Adams
  • Arabahu
  • boulder
  • Bromfield
  • Denver
  • Jefferson
  • Larimer
  • Welding

There is no word yet about the name of an adult or age, however, Fox31 has continued to CDPHE.
