Keystone, COLO. (KDVR) – An opportunity on Sunday took place at Keystone Ski Resort when a black bear visited a run.
Brian O’Neil was in his first race today, along the last chance when the bear crossed his way, barely lost the bear. He says it happened very quickly that he had almost time to respond.
O’Neil said: “We woke up on the mountain, and my son and me, was literally the first round we were heading to Sumit Express and just came in the corner and suddenly there was a bear.” “This happened very quickly, it was difficult to have a reaction just like a sacred foolishness. I shouted to my son because he was in front of me and he did not even see it because he came between us.”
Fortunately, he had a video to appear to his son when he reached the mountain. His son was in a pure shock. O’Neil said that the ski patrol followed the bear shortly after and everyone was safe.
He was skiing for more than two decades and unprecedented like this but I am pleased to have the wild story to share.
“I think there is the first time for anything. You see dear from time to time, you see Moss there, especially in the summer, but it was never a bear on the ski slope.”
Keystone says that if anyone faces wildlife on the mountain, they must report the Keystone team by calling 970-495-6911.
