Idaho Springs, Colorado (KDVR) – Andrew Bowen, former Claire Creek County Andrew Bowen, will spend the next three years behind bars, who was officially sentenced to Monday morning after being convicted of a criminal negligence in the death of Christian Glass for nearly three years.
Clear Creek County Sherif Matthew Harris says that while they still have ways to go, he is confident that his office is on the right path to make sure that something like this does not happen again thanks to many changes in the policy that has been made since the death of Glass.
“We, as an organization, understand the tragic nature of what happened,” said Harris.
For this reason he said that things need to change his office.
“We have released more than 200 new policies last year,” Harris said.
Policies to better hold deputies in this field.
Harris said: “One of the big issues I saw was not to supervise the road,” Harris said. “So we are doing our best to try to supervise nearly 24 hours as possible.”
In addition to policies to teach him better in the office.
“We were not able to train as much as we should have in the past,” he said.
Now, Harris says they are training every week, including methods of entering crises that may have led to a different result of Christian glass. Employment practices have also been modified, not focusing on experience as they are in nature.
“I don’t care and do not care about whether you have shot a pistol before, whether you are a police officer before. We can train you to do this, we can send you to the academy,” says Harris. “We are looking for good quality men and women to attend in favor of our organization and begins to obtain the right morals, and they have the right morals.”
It is a series of changes that Harris feels confident in leading his office in the right direction.
“This does not negate what happened. It will never change what happened,” he said. “But I promised them that we will do everything we can improve every day and be a better section and be better for our fans.”
