Chargers WR Ladd McConkey Announces Wedding Date With Fiancée Sydney Horne in Sweet Instagram Post

Los Angeles Chargers second-year wide receiver Ladd McConkey and his fiancée, Sydney Horne, are set to tie the knot on April 13, 2025.

The happy couple met in the fifth grade and became an item in high school. They have stuck together through everything, including McConkey committing to Georgia in 2020, the two national titles the Bulldogs won during his tenure there, and McConkey getting picked by the Los Angeles Chargers in last year’s NFL Draft.

The couple got engaged on July 6, 2024, and the receiver later announced the news in an Instagram post of the couple swooning and showing off Horne’s ring. McConkey wrote, “My person for life. Here’s to the beginning of forever with my bestfriend! I love you so much 7.6.24.”

Horne is just as excited for the occasion, and she posted about the engagement around the same time as McConkey. She had her bridal shower on Feb. 25, 2025, and before that posted stories on her Instagram account sharing her moment of “it’s getting real” while she was shopping for wedding dresses.

This marks an eventful offseason for the standout receiver from Georgia. His rookie year was a bona fide success as he had 82 catches for 1,149 yards and seven TDs while averaging 14.0 yards per catch. He led the Chargers in receptions and receiving yards and had a monster game in the playoffs.

In a Wild Card loss to the Houston Texans, McConkey racked up nine catches for 197 yards, breaking Puka Nacua’s year-old record for a rookie in their first playoff game. The mark also ranks third-most overall for any player making their playoff debut, putting him behind Calvin Johnson and Demaryius Thomas.

Though, from a personal standpoint, his best game of the season might have been Week 17 against the New England Patriots. McConkey collected eight catches on 10 targets for 94 yards and two touchdowns. It also happened to be on the couple’s seven-year anniversary.

Showing out like that justified the second-round pick the Chargers used on him. He has established himself as one of Justin Herbert’s favorite targets.

McConkey is expected to continue to be a reliable option in the slot for the Chargers. His route-running and quickness allow him to exploit slower linebackers and safeties. Using him underneath gives Herbert a short to mid-range pass catcher who can slip and find cracks in the defense, create space in the seams of zones, and provide sure-handed catches on third down.

Regardless, between his pending nuptials and the sky-high expectations for McConkey’s second year as a pro, 2025 promises to be an eventful year for him.
