CBS Canceled Shows Ahead of 2025-2026 Broadcast Season: What’s Ending

CBS has been making some major changes to its TV lineup, starting with the cancellations of some of our favorite shows.

Which Shows Got Cancelled Ahead of the 2025-2026 Broadcast Season?

In December 2024, Blue Bloods aired its final episode after CBS announced the decision to end the series. The show’s stars, including Tom Selleck, voiced dissatisfaction with the network’s decision.

“My biggest goal is to make sure people realize we went out in rather spectacular success. It wasn’t tired, it wasn’t anything else,” Tom told Entertainment Weekly in December 2024. “Somebody may be able to tell me someday why CBS wanted to end it, but I haven’t had a good answer yet.”

Unfortunately, Blue Bloods wasn’t the only series that got the ax from the network after its successful run.

It’s the end of the line for two FBI spinoffs: FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. Both shows have been canceled by the network. FBI: Most Wanted ran for six seasons, while FBI: International lasted for four seasons.

Several of the franchise’s cast members and showrunners spoke out after the news was revealed, including Most Wanted’s Keisha Castle-Hughes.

“Thanks to Wolf Films and to CBS, David Hudgins and Ken Girotti,” she said. “For supporting an incredible run of the show. I will treasure the memories and the friendships built over my time on the series and the years spent.”

“It’s bittersweet but we are invigorated and determined to close out season 6 with hard work and love,” she added. “And give you the best season yet! This is for you!”

Eva-Jane Willis from FBI: International also reacted to her show’s cancellation.

“Of course I’m sad the show must come to an end, but I want to thank Wolf Entertainment and CBS for everything: in particular the incredible tour of Europe! We have memories to last us a lifetime!” she told US Weekly in a statement following the news of the network’s cancellation.

CBS Canceled ‘S.W.A.T.’ for the 3rd Time

On March 7, 2025, S.W.A.T. star Shemar Moore confirmed that the show has been canceled after season 8. The show had previously been canceled and uncanceled twice before.

“Uncanceled, canceled, uncanceled twice, two years in a row, Now I don’t know my history, but how many shows get to say that?” he said in the video. “I’m going to say none or I’m going to say that we’re close to one of the none. But we did that and we are so proud.”

Shemar hinted that he was not giving up on the show and was instead hoping that it would get picked up by another network.

“Hey, Netflix, how you doing? Let me just remind you that in a very short period of time, once upon a time ago, not too long ago, it only took us about two weeks to go from No. 15, No. 12, to No. 1. Hey, I said it. And then we stayed in your top 10, top 15 for about six months, nine months, maybe a year,” he explained. “So Netflix, if you’re interested in a show that is on autopilot that the world is watching, we’d love to come play.”

“NBC, Fox, ABC: Hey, you want to come flirt with me? You’re invited to the barbecue. Pick your favorite restaurant. I will pay the bill,” Shemar added.

‘The Neighborhood’ Is Ending After Season 8

It was also revealed in March 2025 that The Neighborhood would end with its 8th and final season, which will air during the 2025-2026 broadcast season.

“The brilliant cast and creative team at The Neighborhood led by the incomparable Cedric the Entertainer have brought levity, laughter and poignant storylines to Monday nights for seven incredible seasons,” Amy Reisenbach, President CBS Entertainment, said. “A strong ratings performer for CBS and one of the top comedies on TV, we believe the show’s loyal fans deserve a proper farewell season full of the trademark humor and heartfelt moments that are synonymous with the series.”

CBS Has Canceled ‘Poppa’s House’

It was announced in April 2025 that Poppa’s House would be ending after season 1. Star Damon Wayans Sr. spoke out in a lengthy Instagram caption about the heartbreaking news.

“Creating poppas house was such a beautiful journey. My heart is full as I say thank you to every single person who made Poppa’s House such a meaningful experience. To the incredible cast you brought so much heart, soul, and joy to every scene,” he wrote. “It was an absolute honor to share the screen with you and create something special together. To the writers, producers, directors, and the entire crew you were the heartbeat of this show. Thank you for your dedication, your passion, and for showing up every day with love and commitment. You made the set feel like home.”

“A very special thank you to my son, Damon Jr. working beside you has been one of the greatest joys of my life. And to my incredible family, siblings, children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who showed up as writers, guest stars, and creative forces you made this journey even more meaningful. It’s such a blessing to have so much love on one set and to be able to create and laugh with family and friends,” he added. “Though Poppa’s House is coming to a close, I’m walking away with deep gratitude, lifelong friendships, and unforgettable memories. This show gave me more than I could’ve ever imagined. To everyone who watched, supported, and believed in us thank you. Your love means everything. On to the next chapter, with nothing but love in my heart.”

These Spinoffs Got the Axe

Sadly, two planned spinoffs also got nixed at CBS. A planned spinoff of The Neighborhood about Marty and Malcolm will not be moving forward at the network, and neither will a planned spinoff of The Equalizer starring Titus Welliver and Juani Feliz.
