Hulu is no longer moving forward with a “Buffy the Vampire” reboot, the star of the original series, Sarah Michelle Gellar, announced on Instagram on Saturday.

The series, called “Buffy: New Sunnydale,” was first announced in February 2025, more than two decades after the supernatural horror drama ended in 2003 — and filming actually began in Los Angeles in August.

She continued, “I never thought I would again find myself in stylish, affordable Buffy shoes, and thanks to Chloe, I’ve been reminded of how much I love them, and how much they mean not just to me, but to all of you. And this doesn’t change any of that.”

The now-canceled show was centered around a new killer — with Gellar in a recurring role and serving as executive producer.
