SANA Francisco (KON)-President Trump has signed an advertisement on Friday that imposes a $ 100,000 request fee for H-1B visas, which greatly increased the cost of foreign workers looking for work in the United States.
The H-1B visa program is designed to fill in highly skilled jobs in the United States in major companies such as Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft. California leads the nation with the largest number of H-1B visa holders, which makes this change in particular influencing the state’s economy.

However, Espinoza Ramos believes that the opposite may happen, as companies choose functions to use external sources instead.
“What worries me is that employers may feel that if they do not have this mix of the diversity of thought, they may just want to allocate the jobs that they used to bring here, to take the outside, which means the functions lost here,” said Esbinosa Ramos.
Currently, approximately 85,000 H-1B visas are released every year, usually through the lottery system. Espinoza Ramos highlighted that although H-1B visas are the most common to attract international talents, there are other options, such as the O-1 visa, which can serve as alternatives to those affected by increasing fees.
“I don’t want people to lose hope that because of this, this is their only way,” Espinosa Ramos said.
The exact date in which the change fee will be changed will remain unclear, but the maximum of 2026 has already been filled.
