Authorities warn of illegal massage parlor activity after undercover investigation

DENVER (KDVR) — Law enforcement is alerting the public to red flags after an undercover investigation led to the arrest of a spa owner on charges of offering sex acts in exchange for money.

The investigation began after someone reported he visited the Mango Spa in Centennial for a massage and was offered to perform sex acts in exchange for money, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said.

The agency’s Special Investigations Unit sent an undercover investigator to the spa on Oct. 2 around 7 p.m. According to an ACSO news release, the investigator requested a massage and “at one point was offered sex acts in exchange for money,” which was refused.

The spa employee and owner, 46-year-old Sun Jingli, was arrested and booked into the Arapahoe County Jail on prostitution charges, the sheriff’s office said.

Now the Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about illegal activity at massage parlors and lists the following “red flags” you should be aware of:

  • Open 24 hours or late at night
  • Only cash is accepted
  • No paperwork intake
  • The doors are closed, and customers must enter
  • The business looks unclean
  • New staff rotation, which may indicate human trafficking

“We all play a role in fighting crime,” the Sheriff’s Office said and encourages anyone who sees anything suspicious to report it to law enforcement.
