Saint Antonio (AP)-Heavy rains in San Antonio raised highways, laid off cars and sent some people scrambling trees to escape difficult fast water while firefighters save dozens of rescue throughout the country’s largest city. The authorities said that at least four people died and are still two missing.
All deaths occurred in the northeastern part of the city, where the authorities found 13 cars in the water. Pictures and video showed shattered vehicles and were immersed in the water.
The officials said that the calls to save water began before sunrise. Two dead women and two men were found, according to police chief William McManos, who had no age.
“It is difficult to determine at this point exactly how they werehed them,” said Woody Woodward, a firefighting department spokesman in San Antonio. “But it is an area where there was high water that was moving quickly and there were many people who fell in that water that went up to the trees and we rescued the trees and some rescue operations from the vehicles.”
He said that the administration has rescued 65 water since midnight throughout the San Antonio region.
Erik Platt, the meteorologist at the national weather service, said that the floods occurred after a round of slow shower and thunderstorms in the San Antonio region during the early morning hours on Thursday.
More than 7 inches (17 cm) of rain fell into parts of the San Antonio region, according to the weather service.
By the middle of Al -Ghoura, the floods were receding, although Platt indicated that the rain was still falling in some areas. He said he does not expect additional rain like the night, but notice anything on the saturated ground that could be a flood problem.
