The interview was a fun-filled one, as Sabalenka engaged in playful banter with Jimmy Fallon, joking about the Belarusian’s grunting and her off-field antics on social media. When asked about her upcoming match against Kyrgios, she stated that it was a way for her to challenge herself by going against a male player, jokingly adding that it was the Australian who was nervous, as it was a “lose-lose” situation for him.
The Belarusian’s boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis, reacted to Sabalenka’s interview on social media, captioning, “You Killed it like Always..Proud of You”. Her opponent in the upcoming match, Kyrgios, also reacted, saying, “So Cool”. The reactions can be seen in the following picture
The highly anticipated “Battle of Sexes” between Sabalenka and Kyrgios is scheduled to take place on Dec. 28. It will be broadcast on established platforms, including the Tennis Channel in the United States and the BBC in the UK. There has been some criticism in certain quarters regarding this match, with people stating it runs the risk of harming women’s tennis. Sabalenka addressed concerns in an interview.
On the court, the Belarusian has been in phenomenal form in the last two years, winning 76% of her matches in the two seasons. This year, she won more than 60 matches and reached three Major Finals. She suffered heartbreaking losses in the finals of the Australian Open and the French Open. Still, she had a terrific campaign at the US Open, successfully defending her title and ensuring that she retained her No. 1 ranking.

Meanwhile, Kyrgios has had struggles with injuries for the better part of the last three years. The Australian did make a comeback on the Tour this year, playing only a handful of matches, before he had to withdraw again. The Australian has been playing exhibition tennis in the USA, playing with the likes of Ben Shelton.
Currently, the Belarusian has been playing exhibition tennis in the United States, competing at events in Atlanta and New York. The world No. 1 played marquee matches against the former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka, winning both matches against the Japanese player.
