Fort Stewart, Georgia (AP) – Officials said that the sergeant fired five soldiers on Wednesday in one of the largest army bases in the country before being treated quickly by the Fort Stewart forces, forcing short insurance.
There were few details immediately available about what led to the shooting, but officials said the shooter was the censor. Quorneius Radford, 28, who used a personal pistol, not a military firearm.
The authorities said that Rafford opened the fire as he was working, but the officials would not speculate on the presence of a motive.
General John Lubas said the injured soldiers are stable and expected to recover. Lubas, who leads the third pedestrian department, said that the soldiers who dealt with Radford helped ensure his arrest.
He said: “These soldiers, undoubtedly, prevented more losses or wounded.”
This last action of violence on American military composition – sites that are supposed to be among the most secure in the country – have sparked concerns about safety and security within the walls of the armed forces.
The army said it was investigating the shooting. There are still many unanswered questions, including the scope of injuries and the shooter.
Officials said the injured were taken to the hospital and underwent a surgery.
Radford phone number rang in public records without answering.
The army records that were issued to the Associated Press showed that Radford was recruited in January 2018. He worked as an unpublished sergeant.
Radford faced a hearing on August 20 in Henzville, a small town near the base, on charges of driving under the influence and operation of a red light after 1 am on May 18, according to the martyrdom and court files. The documents said that a blood test was conducted and was released on a bond worth $ 1818.
He said in an e -mail that the lawyer, Sunni Battle, represents Radford in the traffic case, but not the shooting until Wednesday. The privilege of the client’s lawyer was martyred in refusing to comment on any talks with Radford.
Officials said the law was sent to the second armored combat team complex, a short time before 11 am, the shooter was arrested at 11:35 am.
The lock lasted for about an hour. After lifting, the cars began to move through the regular security checkpoint in the main gate of the fort.
The second brigade team was created for the army in 2016 when the service added more than 200 cars to an infantry unit of about 4,200 soldiers. Also known as the “Discipline Brigade”, the army described the unit as “the force of modern land fighting.”
Fort Stewart is about 40 miles (64 km) southwest of Safana, the largest army in the east of the Mississippi River by the Earth. It is home to thousands of soldiers dedicated to the third infantry department of the army and family members.
President Donald Trump described the shooter as a “terrible person” in comments on correspondents at the White House.
Deputy Director Dan Bongino said the FBI was in the fort to help the investigation.
Among the bloodiest violence on US military bases was a 2009 attack. The US military doctor killed 13 people in shooting behind more than 30 wounded in Fort Hood, a military installation in Texas.
In 2013, a defense worker and former reserve player were killed 12 people in Washington, Yard. Then he was killed in a gun battle with the police.
In 2014, a soldier opened fire on his fellow members of the service at Fort Hood, killing three people and wounding more than ten others before the militant killed himself.
In 2019, a flight applicant opened fire in a semester at the Pensacola Naval Station in Florida, killing three people and wounding dozens of others, including honorable deputies. A few days ago, the American naval seas shot two people to death before killing himself in Perl Harbor, the Hawaiian marine station.
