Austin (KXAN)-one day after he threw 309 yards and three touches of land to lead Texas to win 55-0 over the state of Sam Houston, the Longhorns Arch Manning team has given more attention to the Del Children’s Medical Center in Austin.
Maning, along with the children’s miracle and cane breeding network, helped distribute 150 iPad devices from Apple and other good things for cancer patients and their families at the hospital blood and cancer center. Manning said it was an intimate experience and something he would continue to do as long as possible.
“These children are the real heroes,” said Manning. “Seeing children and their families smile after everything they go through is really wonderful. I am here to help these children in any possible way, and it was a blessing to go out here.”
Price Newman, founder of Miracle Children, fought teenage brain cancer and spent a year in hospital for treatment. He said he was lucky enough to have the iPad to help him complete school work and stay in contact with friends and family, and he wants to make sure that other children with cancer treatment have the same thing.
As a graduate in Texas A and M, Newman knows how university football reaches many people. The presence of the most recent player in the game in the game helps its mission in its task is invaluable, even if it is long.
“It is a great thing that these people with reputation are bad to help give these children that the iPad is very required,” he said. “IPad devices are very trick for these children when they are promoted and are likely to be isolated in the hospital.”
Kai Schmidt, director of the Del Blood and Cancer Center, said the Children’s Miracle Foundation has offered the donation of iPad devices. It was an offer you could not reject, and add Maning to the event raised its meaning more.
“This means huge things for children,” she said. “These are the children who can see their eyes really sparkling.”
