Anisimova defeated many strong opponents en route to the final, including Yulia Putintseva, Renata Zarazúa, Dalma Gálfi, Linda Nosková, and former French Open finalist Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
Her biggest win came in the semifinals when she stunned top seed Aryna Sabalenka in three sets, securing a spot in Saturday’s final, where she eventually lost 0-6, 0-6 to Świątek in under an hour. The double bagel was a tough pill, but many in the tennis community focused on her incredible journey to her maiden Grand Slam final.
Coco Gauff, who suffered an early exit at SW19, was among the first to congratulate Anisimova, writing:
“So much to be proud of Amanda❤️❤️❤️ keep your head up 👑.”

Anisimova’s run marks a powerful comeback after stepping away from tennis for eight months in 2023 to focus on her mental health. Battling burnout and depression since 2022, she returned in January 2024, ranked out of the top 300, and steadily climbed to the Top 10 of the WTA rankings.

Anisimova Shares Honest Thoughts on Wimbledon Final
During her post-match press conference following the final, Anisimova admitted that nerves played a role in her first Grand Slam final.
“I was nervous, but it wasn’t anything out of this world,” Anisimova said. “If anything, I was more excited to go out there and compete. But yeah, I didn’t practice yesterday, and I think that I was just really fatigued, and I could feel it also in my warm-up this morning. I had to take a break after every single rally out there in my warm-up.”
She also highlighted the physical and mental challenges she faced throughout the tournament as key areas for growth.
“I think if anything, it’s my physicality that I need to work on, and to be able to last two weeks in a grand slam is definitely something that you need to work a lot on,” Anisimova continued. “It’s not an easy feat. So yeah, there’s a lot of room for improvement, I think. And yeah, if anything, I think it’s more experience for me on how to handle nerves, and it’s my first slam final, so at least I have that experience now.”
