Alexander Zverev’s ‘Love at First Sight’ Revealed by Girlfriend Sophia Thomalla Amid Their Days in Monaco

Alexander Zverev is spending the holiday season surrounded by his loved ones. His girlfriend, German actress and model Sophia Thomalla, recently revealed who the World No. 3’s “love at first sight” is. The couple has been together for five years, having started their relationship in 2020.

Zverev concluded his 2025 tennis season after representing Germany at the Davis Cup Finals. There, the German team defeated Argentina in the quarterfinals before falling to the eventual runners-up, Spain, in the semifinals.

After his campaign in Bologna, Italy, Zverev spent some time away from the sport. He hosted his foundation’s annual gala in Germany, went on vacation to the Maldives with Thomalla, and participated in several other activities.

Recently, Thomalla took to social media to share an adorable picture of Zverev lying on a racetrack with their new puppy, a golden-brown Dachshund named Mishka, resting on his chest. The German model described the picture as capturing “love at first sight” between Zverev and Mishka.

Thomalla also posted a picture of Zverev with Mishka on his lap while they enjoyed a ride on a Ferris wheel overlooking Monaco’s Christmas Market, located at Port Hercule, Monaco’s primary deep-water harbor. The World No. 3 resides in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

During the 2025 season, Zverev secured just one title: the BMW Open. He finished as the runner-up at the Australian Open, BOSS Open, and Vienna Open. He had semifinal runs at the Halle Open, Canadian Open, Cincinnati Open, and the Paris Masters. He also reached the quarterfinals at the Argentina Open, Rio Open, Italian Open, French Open, and China Open.

Zverev to Next Compete at the 2026 United Cup

Looking ahead, Zverev will kick off his 2026 season by representing Germany at the United Cup, which is scheduled to take place from January 2 to January 11, 2026, in Australia. The matches will be held at the RAC Arena in Perth and the Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney. Germany has been placed in Group F alongside Poland and the Netherlands, and will compete in Sydney.

Team Germany for the 2026 United Cup will consist of three men’s players and three women’s players: Zverev, Eva Lys, Patrick Zahraj, Kevin Krawietz, Laura Siegemund, and Mina Hodzic, with Alexander Zverev Sr. serving as the captain.

During the group stage matches at the United Cup, the World No. 3 will face Hubert Hurkacz of Poland and Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands. Zverev and Hurkacz have met four times on the ATP Tour, with the German winning three of those encounters. Their most recent match was in the semifinals of the 2024 Halle Open, where the Pole triumphed 7-6(2), 6-4.

On the other hand, Zverev has faced Griekspoor 10 times on the ATP Tour, winning eight of those matches. Their latest matchup was in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Vienna Open, where the Dutch withdrew due to a back injury.
