Alex Baskin Shuts Down ‘The Valley’ Pause Rumors, Denies Show Is in Danger of Being Cancelled!
Despite swirling reports of a potential hiatus for The Valley, executive producer Alex Baskin is setting the record straight — and he’s not holding back.
On Thursday night, the Bravo boss took to his Instagram Story to directly respond to claims made by The U.S. Sun suggesting the show may be placed on hold after season two due to slipping ratings and Jax Taylor’s controversial on-screen behavior.
“There is NO TRUTH to this,” Alex wrote alongside a screenshot of a post shared by a fan account, which read: “Bravo is considering putting [The Valley] on pause after [season two] due to declining ratings and ‘problematic behaviour’ from the cast, The Sun reports.”
The sharp denial comes after a week of speculation surrounding the show’s fate. Earlier, an insider told The U.S. Sun that Bravo was seriously reevaluating its plans for season three amid concerns about the show’s trajectory and behind-the-scenes tension.
“It’s too early to say how things will go next season, they still have a lot of this season to get through but the ratings decline has been a big blow for the show,” the source claimed. “Between that and the problematic behavior of Jax, the higher-ups are weighing the options over continuing with the trajectory it’s going in or regrouping. They don’t want to enable his behavior.”
While no final decisions have been made, the insider said a pause was “not off the table,” adding, “They’re not sure it can continue with the current way it’s going.”
According to the outlet, The Valley premiered in March 2024 with 780,000 viewers, averaging around 651,000 viewers during its first season. Season two, however, debuted to just 487,000 viewers — a notable drop-off that reportedly caught the network’s attention.
“The show cannot keep going on a downward trajectory like this,” the source continued. “There will 100% be changes to season 3, if it does get picked up. Some people won’t return and new ones will be added. Who that will be is still to be determined.”
There’s also chatter that Bravo may lean on Vanderpump Rules veterans to breathe new life into the spinoff. According to The U.S. Sun, Lala Kent and Scheana Shay are both being eyed for bigger roles in season three.
“It might be necessary to move the show forward,” the source said of the potential cast shake-up.
Though Alex swiftly denied any plans to hit pause, fans will likely have to wait until season two wraps — and ratings shake out — before Bravo’s next steps become official.
The Valley airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
