(Kron) – A pilot program provides jury from the Alamida Provincial Court with $ 100 per day as an indefinite compensation. Court officials said that any jury was chosen to serve in a trial after June 4 will not only receive $ 15 per day.
The goal of paying the jury was $ 100, instead of $ 15, was to diversify the jury gatherings. “The jurors are an essential part of our judicial system, and we need to do everything we can to increase participation,” said Thomas Nixon.
While choosing the jury, potential jurors can request their rejection by the judge for a wide range of reasons. Financial hardships are common reasons for separation requests.
The experimental jury program was created as part of the AB1981, which was signed by newsom in 2022. In a notice it was sent this week to seven superior courts participating in a $ 100 experimental program per day, the California Judicial Council asked each court to suspend the program because the Refined Javin New New Governor.
