Austin – With students returning to the classroom and setting some of their first home duties in the semester, many will face a temptation that was not an option just a few years ago.
Should they use artificial intelligence to help them complete their duties?
Although artificial intelligence can serve as a strong resource, taking it out and passing it because your work is cheating and plagiarism in schools.
While these outputs can be almost distinguished from what a person will write, artificial intelligence discovery companies Koselix I developed programs looking for hundreds of clues to determine from or what you read.
Although the company will not specify the regions and universities it operates with, it determines the number as “hundreds.”
KXAN talks with Copyleaks Alon Yamin CEO about how educational institutions have partnership with his company to detect fraud.
This interview was lightly released for clarity and brevity.
Tom Miller: Can you explain what Copyleaks is and how does this technology work?
Alon YaminWe focus on authenticity of the artificial intelligence content. The idea is to understand everything about the text. Where is it created, what is the distribution, how original is, and if it is created by AI or by man. We have developed artificial intelligence models that could analyze the text. We are looking for hundreds of factors. You can look at the average sentence length. You can look at specific phrases used. You can look at numbering marks. What our models can see, which is invisible to us as human beings, is that artificial intelligence writes in a completely different way compared to humans.
Tom: What is the size of the problem that artificial intelligence uses when it comes to completing tasks in schools and universities?
ColorAmnesty International is a major issue in the field of education, and it is also a great opportunity. On the negative side, we all heard how easy for students to go to Chatgpt or any other big language model there and ask to do the mission to them. There is no educational process, there is no research, and no effort in tasks. On the other hand, there are amazing positives and benefits to work with artificial intelligence in the field of education. You can customize learning, you can use it for research, and you can discover and analyze materials in ways that you could not do before.
Tom: How accurate is your technology, and what happens if it indicates something but wrong?
Color: The technology is very accurate. We are talking about the accuracy of more than 99.8 % in the discovery of content being artificial intelligence versus humans. We also not only stop telling you whether the content has been created by AI or not, but also providing accurate signals in the text that tells our models that this content was created by AI.
Tom: What are some signs that something was written by artificial intelligence, not a student or a worker?
ColorUnfortunately, there is no single sign. After saying this, some of the things we look are the average length of the sentence, the specific phrases that are used, and the number of times the numbering marks in the text. Artificial intelligence is written in a very systematic way that models can define. For us as human beings, it is a largely invisible thing. It is very difficult to be able to distinguish.
Tom: For parents who are worried about this and they want to know how they can help their children and how artificial intelligence works, what will you tell them?
ColorI think first and foremost, talk about it with your children. Amnesty International is not a frightening thing. On the contrary, it is something your children need to be aware of it and need to learn how to work with it. It should not be prohibited or not complete in an educational environment. I think parents can teach them to their children, about the importance of using artificial intelligence, how to do this in a safe way, and teach them on specific tools. Make sure to focus on the fact that artificial intelligence exists to help learning, but do not replace the learning experience.
Tom: For universities and educational areas that use your technology, what do you see with how this changes in terms of the student’s performance?
ColorWhat we see is that a few weeks after the start of using the tool, artificial intelligence levels decrease significantly. This does not mean that artificial intelligence is no longer used anymore, but it means that it is used as an educational tool than the cheating tool. So you will see that 4 % of the task may include artificial intelligence, compared to 50 % or even sometimes 100 % of the task.
