A Michigan autoworker’s wallet is found under a hood in Minnesota – 151,000 miles later

Petersburg, Michigan – A Michigan colleague in Michigan looked at a message on Facebook after midnight from a stranger: Have you lost your wallet years ago?

“If so,” a man from Minnesota wrote, “He was in the bay of the car engine.”

Richard Gilford could not believe what he was reading on his phone – a sign of a decade has been marked significantly.

The Guilford Tri -Fold has appeared – stuffed with $ 15, driving license, work definition, $ 275 gift cards and lottery tickets – under a car cover at a repair store in Crystal Lake, Minnesota.

The Christmas gift from Gilford suddenly was a family treasure again. “Big Red”, as he was known for affection in Ford Motor, was in awe.

“It restores your belief in the humanity that people will say,” Gilford said on Thursday.

The portfolio was discovered in June by Chad Falk Mechanics, jamd between the transmission and the Ford Edge 2015 air box with 151,000 miles.

“Crazy”, Falk said.

He said: “The filters’ box was not in place after the reform,” so I spoiled a little and then pulled it back and the wallet was sitting on a small edge where she needed to get rid of the wallet, and this was what it was.

Restore to 2014, at Christmas. Gilford was working on the same car at the Ford in Wayne, Michigan. It was in a long series of new vehicles collected elsewhere needing additional electrical work before shipping to merchants.

Gilford later realized that his wallet fell from the pocket of his shirt. He was sure that he lost it in a car, but he thought it was on the floor of Ford Flex, not an edge, and certainly not in the engine.

Gilford said he searched 30 to 40 cars, and his colleagues looked at dozens into dozens, “just opening the doors up, looking under the seats, and looking after them.”

“I can’t take much time to search for this because I have to work. I’m around the clock,” remembers the feeling. “No luck. Life continued.”

Gilford, who is now 56 years old and lives in Petersburg, Michigan, from Ford in 2024 after nearly 35 years. He had removed the wallet out of his mind a long time, until he called the message on Facebook, where his profile said that he worked in Ford.

Volk made a photo of the wallet and included a driver’s license. “Big Red” saw a smaller version of himself with his red beard.

“The amazing part of me was very protected,” Gilford said of the wallet, as it follows the car’s history. ))

Ford spokesman said he was called “direct money reform,” adding: “Can you imagine the possibilities?”

Cabela’s, an outdoor retail store, said $ 250 in gift cards is still valid, but offered to grant him new cards anyway. Gilford is not known to put a $ 25 card from Outback Steakouse. The numbers have faded on the lottery tickets in the wallet for a long time.

“I will restore everything in it and leave it just as it is, and he will sit at home in the Chinese cabinet and this is dedicated to my children,” said Gilford, a part -time sign. “They can tell my great fossils on this topic. We are big in stories. I love telling stories. This is just who I am.”
