The New York Giants revamped their quarterback room this offseason after a disastrous 2024 season. While they were linked to Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford ahead of the league’s new year, they wound up agreeing to a two-year, $8 million contract with $5.25 million in guarantees with Jameis Winston in March.
They were not done there, however, as just days later, they agreed to a one-year, $10.5 million fully guaranteed contract with Russell Wilson. The Giants later traded back into the first-round of the 2025 NFL Draft to select Jaxson Dart.
While they have not publicly named a starting quarterback, all indications point to Wilson receiving the first crack at the gig. The ten-time Pro Bowler was on hand on the Met Gala earlier this week and recently praised his wife, Ciara, with a picture from their appearance.
Russell Wilson Praises Ciara After Their Met Gala Outing
Wilson is in one of the most high-profile marriages of any NFL player as he has been married to R&B singer Ciara since 2016. The Giants quarterback took to Instagram on Thursday to share a photo of the couple’s appearance at the 2025 Met Gala, adding the caption:
“My Heart. My Forever. @ciara.”
The couple began dating in early 2015 and announced they were engaged in March 2016. They tied the knot four months later at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England. Wilson and Ciara share three children together. Their eldest child together, daughter Sienna Princess Wilson, was born on April 28, 2017. Their next child, and first son, Win Harrison Wilson, was born on July 23, 2020. Finally, they had another daughter, Amora Princess Wilson, on December 11, 2023.
Wilson is also the stepfather to Future Zahir Wilburn, Ciara’s son from a previous relationship with rapper Future. He was born on May 19, 2014. The Super Bowl XLVIII champion was previously married to Ashton Meem, whom he met when both were in high school. The couple tied the knot in January 2012 and divorced in April 2014.
The Giants will mark the fourth team that Wilson has played for in his NFL career. He spent his first 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, establishing himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Following the 2021 season, he was traded to the Denver Broncos, along with a fourth-round pick, in exchange for two first-round picks, two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick, quarterback Drew Lock, defensive lineman Shelby Harris, and tight end Noah Fant.
Wilson was released just two seasons into a five-year, $245 million contract. He spent last season as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
