Happy 94th birthday to the great William Shatner! The Canadian actor, recording artist, equine enthusiast and space traveler was born in Montreal on March 22, 1931.
He’s entertained generations and captured our imaginations in The Twilight Zone, the Star Trek TV and film series, cop series T.J. Hooker, drama Boston Legal, docuseries Rescue 911 and so much more.
Shatner is still going strong, making TV and movie guest appearances and doing voice work, all in between traveling to fan conventions, film screenings and other public appearances.
Did you know Heather Locklear filmed ‘T.J. Hooker’ and ‘Dynasty’ at the same time?
He recently said he would be open to playing Capt. James T. Kirk again, and would soon be hearing a story pitch.
Next year, he’ll be setting sail on Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas for Star Trek: The Cruise in celebration of Star Trek’s 60th anniversary.
In 2023, Shatner was Mission Control in the FOX reality competition series Stars on Mars, and we asked him then what he loves about attending fan conventions.
“What I enjoy doing are the appearances, being in front of an audience, entertaining them, not knowing what the next moment’s going to be,” he said. “That’s a challenge. And knowing there’s a couple thousand people in the hall, you owe them an hour or an hour-and-a-half of entertainment and you better be good.”
And what’s the coolest thing he’s ever autographed for a fan?
“The left breast of a beautiful woman,” he said without dramatic pause.
Happy birthday, Bill. May you live forever!
