Brittany Cartwright Claims She Invested in Jax Taylor’s Bar but Was Never Paid Back!
Brittany Cartwright is setting the record straight when it comes to her involvement in ex Jax Taylor’s bar, Jax’s Studio City. On a recent episode of her podcast When Reality Hits, the Valley star opened up about why she had her signature ‘Mamaw’s Beer Cheese‘ removed from the restaurant’s menu and revealed she was never compensated for her contributions.
“Something else funny that happened this week that went pretty viral was… Jax’s bar, the menu, they took a Sharpie and Sharpie-d through ‘Mamaw’s Beer Cheese,‘” Brittany explained to cohost Zack Wickham. “It’s because I asked them to take it off the menu. I own ‘Mamaw’s Beer Cheese.’ I have it trademarked, that I pay for, and everything else.”
According to Brittany, her decision to distance herself from the business came after her bar project, Britt’s WeHo, fell apart without her knowledge.
“After Britt’s bar was sold without my knowledge and everything else that happened with that whole thing, and just like where Jax and I stand right now, I don’t want to be associated with that bar, and I definitely don’t want my Mamaw to be associated with it.”
She went on to clarify that the menu change wasn’t about being petty, but about protecting herself. “It looks super petty, but I will take the blame for that,” Brittany said. “Because I said, ‘You have to take it off,’ and I own that, and I have not made a dollar from that place. I put in a lot of money toward that place, and I never got paid back for it, and I’ve never seen a dollar from ‘Mamaw’s Beer Cheese‘ or anything, so I was like, ‘I’m done.’”
Zack chimed in, calling her decision “a business decision,” which Brittany agreed with. “I will figure out another way to get Mamaw’s Beer Cheese to the world,” she added.
In addition to cutting ties with Jax’s Studio City, Brittany also revealed that Britt’s WeHo, the bar she planned to open independently, is no longer in the works. On a previous episode of her podcast, she claimed her business partners sold the location without informing her.
“The partners straight up sold it, didn’t tell me that they were going to sell it, didn’t communicate with me whatsoever,” Brittany said. “We had already completely decorated everything… We ordered everything on January 7th. So, I thought that it was happening up until like this week. They told me that it got sold.”
She speculated that recent fires in the area might have played a role in the sudden change, but made it clear she felt blindsided.
“I understand that the fires happened, and that was so terrible… I think that they took a hit with that,” she said. “Still, I was very disappointed in the way things were handled.”
For now, Brittany seems focused on finding a new path forward, both in her career and her personal life. Despite the setbacks, she’s not giving up on her dream to bring Mamaw’s Beer Cheese to the masses.
