Spending Easter in her new home with her kids was a load of fun for former Today host Hoda Kotb, who has been living the dream ever since leaving the show. The broadcaster shared a photo of her daughters carrying on a sweet tradition on the holiday on Sunday, April 20.
In the picture shared to her Instagram account, Hoda’s daughters, Haley, 8, and Hope, 5, were seen dyeing Easter eggs in their kitchen. The girls sat side by side with cups of dye in front of them as well as an egg cup holder for their completed creations. The kitchen table was covered with a garbage bag to protect it from any spills.
“Happy Easter xoxo,” Hoda, 60, captioned the post.
A glimpse of the family’s new suburban home could be seen in the background, featuring a white tiled backsplash, white cabinets, a stainless steel fridge with the kids’ artwork hanging on it and a door to the backyard.
Hoda and her kids moved into the home just weeks before she announced she would be leaving the show. Previously, they split their time between their New York City apartment and their house in Long Island. The mom of two explained why they would be letting go of their NYC apartment to opt for suburban life.
“I want my kids to feel grass on their feet, and play in the yard, and ride bikes down the street, and run up and down the stairs,” she told People in August 2024 of the decision to move. “I just see that life for them in this perfect house in this beautiful little town where I know they’ll be able to blossom into beautiful, independent, strong women.”
Hoda said that she was in her “repotting phase,” and was ready to plant her roots in a new space.
“It’s like my roots need a bigger pot,” she told the outlet. “You know when you take a plant out of a pot, and it’s roots are all twisted and tight? And then you put it in a bigger pot with fresh new soil and it just grows bigger and stronger? That’s the journey I’m on right now. And it’s going to hurt a little, to leave that pot that was so comfortable for so long. But in the end, it’s going to be exactly what we need.”
After her final episode of Today on January 10, the Hope Is a Rainbow author has been sticking true to spending more time with her daughters in their gorgeous new space. She’s shared looks into her home during other holidays, including Thanksgiving and Christmas, proving that she’s right where she should be with her little ones!
Hoda revealed that she had no regrets about her decision to leave the talk show to spend more time with Haley and Hope.
“I never had a second thought because some things can be hard and right,” she told Us Weekly in February. “I think if anyone’s ever gone through any kind of an ending and a beginning, sometimes it’s really difficult, but also 100 percent right. And I knew it in my heart. I know it just like I’m saying it today. I knew it then. … It’s sort of like life speaks to you and whispers, and pretty soon, they turn into screams. But I felt the whisper, I knew it, and I didn’t ignore it. I didn’t push it down. I didn’t say, ‘Not right now.’ I knew it was right.”
