Christie Brinkley is keeping it real about what work she has and hasn’t had done on her body.
In an interview with People published on Thursday, April 17, Christie, 71, shared that she “mainly” does “lasers” when it comes to cosmetic procedures.
“I don’t try to get rid of every wrinkle,” she told the outlet.
“I’ve dabbled with fillers and I go to my doctor in the city,” the model said. “I don’t want to look ‘done’ or anything. I just did Fraxel [a skin resurfacing treatment] because I had skin cancer and that helps get rid of pre-cancerous cells. It’s mainly about health for me now.”
Christie first revealed she had skin cancer in March 2024, posting a photo on Instagram of the spot on her face that she had removed.
“The good news for me is we caught the basal cell Carcinoma early. And I had great Doctors that removed the cancer and stitched me up to perfection like an haute couture Dior,” she captioned the post. “The good news for you is that all of this can be avoided by being diligent with your sun protection! I got serious a bit late so now for this ole mermaid/gardener, I’ll be slathering on my SPF 30, reapplying as needed, wearing long sleeves and a wide brim hat. And doing regular total body check ups..that is a MUST !”
“I was lucky to find mine, because I was accompanying one of my daughters to HER check up .. The Doctor was looking at each freckle with a magnifying glass… it wasn’t my appointment so I wasn’t going to say anything but at the VERY end I asked if he could just look at a little tiny dot I could feel as I applied my foundation,” she continued. “He took a look and knew immediately it needed a biopsy! He did it then and there! So make your own good luck by making that check up appointment today. And slather up my friends!”
In the interview, Christie also praised the fact that industry beauty standards have been shattered.
“The most beautiful thing that’s happened in our industry of beauty is the expansion of what we consider beautiful,” the mom of three said. “And it includes us ‘seasoned’ gals.”
However, she hopes that older women will be able to continue to get more and more job opportunities in the industry.
“Age is the last frontier. You see older women on runways and in magazines but it’s still not enough,” she added.
In the past, Christie clapped back at haters who left mean comments on her Instagram about her appearance.
“Whoa, Nelly! The Wrinkle Brigade is out in full force in the comment thread!” she wrote alongside a photo in June 2023. “They are the people that scan celebrities’ pages, hoping to find some cellulite, wrinkles or anything that they can point to critique. It must be some form of compensation for something they are lacking.”
“But when those people appear, there are others who pop up with messages so kind and valuable. Those are the comments that restore my faith and make my heart sing! Thank you sweet souls. PS I don’t have hair on my chest obviously( I thought!) I phone has a tendency to create weird things in thd [sic] shadow. But so what if I did? Havd [sic] a great day My Friends !” she concluded.
