Paul McCartney ‘Still Loves to Socialize and Get Out There’ at 82 (EXCL)

Sir Paul McCartney is still the life and soul of the party at 82 and his health and fitness habits are a big reason for his boundless energy, with a source close to the iconic musician exclusively telling Closer the Beatle will be bouncing around like a 40-something for many more years to come.

“There is no hipper 80-something on the planet than Paul,” the insider says. “He’s a regular at all the hotspots. It’s St. Barth’s in the winter for him, he hits up SoHo house in London when he’s there, he’s a member of a bunch of the best private clubs all over the world,” the pal explains, adding the octogenarian “still loves to socialize and get out there.”

“When he’s in New York, he’s out until well after midnight most nights, he’s still a total night owl.” Photographers even caught the English hitmaker exiting a black SUV on the way to a Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special afterparty on February 16. But beyond just partying, the source notes he’s still up for doing what he loves most: performing on stage. “He still loves performing and is in good enough shape to do it,” the source says. Macca had been reportedly wrapping up a lengthy set earlier in the night, playing Beatles classics for fellow attendees.

Sir Paul’s incredible longevity comes down to the healthy habits he built after his time with the Beatles, including eating well, de-stressing and making sure to get plenty of exercise.

“He’s been a vegetarian since 1975 and he credits that with his incredible health, he’s much more energetic than a lot of guys his age. He’s also been meditating daily since the 60s and doing yoga, he swears that helps with longevity because of the stress reduction and the stretching.”

“Staying supple is a key part of feeling vital. He loves going dancing with his wife and enjoying good organic food together. People always say he’s found the fountain of youth and it seems to be true,” the insider says.

Paul’s not the only Beatle thriving into his 80s. As Closer previously reported, bandmate Ringo Starr has been living his best life at the even older age of 84 for much the same reasons.

“Ringo loves his life, he feels like the luckiest guy in the world and he wakes up every morning grateful for his life,” that source said. Another commonality between them is the meditative practices they picked up in their youth with the band. “He swears his positive outlook and daily gratitude practice help keep him young, he always says he still feels 24 years old in his head … Of course, his vegetarian diet and the fact that he’s been sober since 1988 have helped a great deal.”

The two surviving original Beatles seemed to have longevity locked down for now. The second source added that performing is also Ringo’s “passion,” and, “still all these years later gives him a huge thrill. He might be in his mid-80s but he still keeps rock’n’roll hours and never gets to bed before midnight.”
