Austin (KXAN) – More than four years have passed since the little son of Dr. Ro Schmidt, Giovanni, “Jino” Bulri took over his life.

He did so, two weeks after his birthday. It was tragic, shock. This is something that Schmidt carries with her every day.

“When we got to the hospital and we knew that Gino would not make it, this was the most difficult situation my family endured ever,” Schmidt said.

The heart’s pain is, in a large part of it, guides it on its mission to keep the Gino memory alive. Although her son struggled. He was donated to the organs. After passing, he was able to save lives. Including a person close to the Schmid family.

April is the month of donation of national life, and Schmidt continues to share the story of her son, which she believes will touch more lives.

“Giovanni determined the square on his license to donate members,” Schmidt said. “At that particular moment, my husband remembers that our lawyer Damon needs a college.”

Schmidt was not sure that they would be able to choose those who wanted to go to one of their son’s members. When a nurse told them they could, they called their lawyer and friend Damon immediately. But they could not reach it.

“I was on the waiting list for a short time and I was traveling at that time I just promised to visit my sister,” Ward said. “We were walking together, but I went home early.”

A sister rushed to him. He was surprised to see her on the other side of the door, when he heard a person beating loudly.

“I entered the apartment and said,” Why don’t you respond to your phone? “” “[Because Dr. Schmidt was not able to reach me]The hospital called my sister, who is an emergency contact. “

Ward continued to return to the airport where he was early on that day. And he got a trip to where Schmidt and her family were, as well as Jino’s kidneys.

Ward said: “He still overwhelms me.” “I did not know that it would be like this … for people who did not examine this square or did not think about donating, the influence on people’s lives is incredible … I do not talk about the transplant every day. What I am talking about is the opportunity that I had every day to live for a longer and better period.”

After the failed matches, Gino changed life forever when he expected it at least.

He was hearing about the story of Gino and Dameun, which linked Schmidt and Michael Kutcher.

Michael, coincides with Ashton Kathher’s brother, is also recipient of members. He received the heart transplant 34 years ago.

“When I started doing more and more research on organ donation, registration and non -registration, I realized that 95 % of people already support and believe in organ donation, but only 58 % of people are already registered, which is only baffling me,” Kutcher said. “So, from this type of a stimulating bell for me really to invite and start searching for different ways I can help.”

Schmidt and Kutcher are now cooperating on a campaign. They are on a mission to record 5,000 donors to the members.

“It is really reassuring for me and humility for me to meet Schmidt because I don’t really know my donor,” Kutcher said. “So for me to meet someone who was able to give this gift of life to another person, like Damon, it appears a lot.”

Through this campaign, Kuthcher and Schmidt displays and share emotional stories about organs, and their effect.

Schmidt and her husband live in the Austin region now, and they hosted an event together in the city earlier this month, and they continued their mission.
