'Horrific scene': Watkins petting zoo owner looks for answers after 4 animals found dead

Watskins, Colorado (KDVR) – The owner of the Watskins Zoo is looking for answers after it found four of its animals dead on Tuesday morning.

The animals were part of the non -profit “Spears Academy” and used for treatment and to bring joy to children, families and the elderly.

Diane Strant lost two alpaca and two sheep. A spokesman for Colorado for wildlife and wildlife told Fox31 that the initial investigation shows that animals were deprived by wolves. The agency said that the final investigation should be concluded in the coming days.

Over the past 32 years, Strong has devoted its life to its farm, animals and non -profit organizations.

“It was approved two years ago to save animals and develop a farm and farm education program,” she said. “To be mobile. To be able to bring my program to the role of elderly and school care. I will go to the churches, the Colorado Air Force Academy and the VA Hospital.”

She said that it takes a lot of work to make them safely around families and children.

“They reflect the image of the customer for any work,” Strong said. “Whether he is a painful child, for an old person who does not know the difference, to celebrate. They know how to participate in the situation.”

It was surprising when she got up on Tuesday morning and learned from her treatment on a farm that there was a terrible wrong thing.

Strong said: “I was still sleeping this morning and ran my son and was worried about something or around the farm and we did not know what happened. A Mazrabi processor went to get rid of some garbage and looked at the animals … in Albakh and noticed that they were putting on the ground.” “When I went out, I saw my animals had been attacked. Two alpcards were George, Marvin, and my sheep, bottle, peat, and repetition. It was a terrible scene.”

Colorado Parks and wildlife were at the scene of the investigation on Tuesday afternoon.

There was a small dog standing over one of the corpses, but CPW says there is no way that can kill large animals.

We have learned that their initial investigation led them to believe that the animals were attacked by wolves.

“I am broken,” said strong. “This has participated from my heart.”

Now when you look at some of the memories they invented, it is difficult for them to find words.

“It is really painful that they do not deserve this,” Strong said. “There is no animal worth chasing it in cold blood.”

Now you may have to cancel the obligations that will help in bringing more money to it that provide their 25 animal care.

“What would be a frost to take all of these animals, which could not have caused this,” she asked. “I don’t know how I will replace them.”

Strong knows that it will take some time to recover from this loss.
