A man in Ventura has been sentenced to 480 years in prison for the harassment of two young children for nearly a decade.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Vintera announced that the jury condemned Marcelino Arias Erka, 68, from Oxenard, of six criminal charges of obscene work on a child on March 5. On April 8, he was sentenced to crimes.
From 2005 to 2014, ARCA molested two children who were less than 14 years old at the time. Prosecutors said that the abuse occurred in several locations over the years. He had the right to reach children through a family relationship.
Years later, both victims reported abuse of a trusted family member. Arka was arrested for crimes and was later convicted.
The authorities said that Erka has had a previous condemnation of harassment of children since 1988.
“For decades, this defendant went to prison because of his sexual abuse of the child,” said Ben Moreno, a Vintora County lawyer in Ventura County, who ruled the case. “When he got a second chance, he chose not to change – instead, continued the abuse of two other children, this time in his family. This sentence reflects the severe and permanent damage he caused and sends a clear message that sexual assault on children will not be tolerated, especially through repeated criminals.”
Along with six matters of a felony of obscene deeds on a child, special allegations that were found are correct and acceptance includes:
- Strong conditions/previous condemnation
- Many victims
- Previous or violent felony, prison eligibility
- Dangerous crime before
- Previous strike 3
Mourino said after his conviction on March 5: “I salute the two victims for their unusual courage to progress and face the aggressor.” “Because of their courage, [Arca] The child will not be hurt again. I would also like to thank the jury for their careful interest in evidence and their commitment to justice. Although today’s ruling cannot back away from the harm caused by the defendant, I hope that the victims will give the closure they deserve so much.
