Healey, Campbell launch portal for reporting ICE misconduct

Gov. Maura Healey and Attorney General Andrea Campbell announced Friday that the mandate would begin New electronic portal For residents to report incidents of alleged misconduct by ICE officers working in Massachusetts.

The two politicians, who frequently criticize the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement tactics, made the announcement in a joint video posted on social media.

The portal is expressly intended for reporting potential illegal activities and misconduct by federal agents enforcing immigration law. This could include Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, as well as Customs and Border Protection employees and others working to enact President Donald Trump’s mass deportation campaign. Submissions may help officials identify patterns of potential misconduct and “inform potential legal action or policy recommendations.”

Spokespeople for ICE and the Department of Homeland Security did not respond to a request for comment on this announcement.

The portal allows people to submit reports about themselves or someone else. Users are required to provide a written explanation of the incident in question, as well as location details. They can upload photos and videos and request more information about legal resources and other support systems.

“The primary duty of law enforcement, including federal law enforcement, is to keep our communities safe. But what we have seen from ICE in recent months across the country is the opposite: aggressive and reckless tactics that spread fear and chaos in our communities,” Campbell said in a statement.

The press release included statements of support from Senate President Karen Spilka, several state attorneys general, immigrant advocates, and other local leaders.
