Coco Gauff Worries About Being ‘Attacked’ As She, Jessica Pegula and Naomi Osaka Disagree With Iga Świątek on Taylor Swift

Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Naomi Osaka, and Iga Świątek, among other WTA stars, recently tested their knowledge of Taylor Swift, specifically her 12th studio album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl.’ While Gauff, Pegula, and Osaka struggled to demonstrate their knowledge about Swift, the Pole stood out as a dedicated “Swiftie.”

Coco Gauff, Iga Świątek, Naomi Osaka and Others Test Their Knowledge on Taylor Swift

Świątek has often expressed her admiration for the American pop star. In 2024, she attended Swift’s Eras Tour concert at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool. Last year, she received a merchandise box and a handwritten, signed note from Swift, which included items related to ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ album.

Recently, during an interview, Gauff, Pegula, Osaka, Świątek, and Amanda Anisimova were asked to share their thoughts on Swift. The two-time Grand Slam singles champion expressed concern that Swifties might “attack” her for not knowing much about the star. However, she was able to name Swift’s 12th studio album after a bit of help from the interviewer.

“Oh my God, the Swifties are gonna hate me. I’m not a Taylor Swift fan. So I don’t know. That’s actually, I have no idea. ‘Life of a Showgirl.’ That kind of helped me,” Gauff said.

On the other hand, Anisimova stated that she does not like Swift, while Osaka admitted she doesn’t know much about the American singer, though she mentioned that she knows about the song “Opalite” from ‘The Life of a Showgirl.’

“Oh, I don’t like Taylor Swift. Sorry,” Anisimova said.

“So, Taylor Swift is where I don’t know anything. I just know there was a song named ‘Opalite,’” Osaka added.

Pegula, for her part, conveyed her disinterest in anything related to Swift.

“I don’t know. But I don’t really wanna know that,” Pegula said.

Świątek was the exception among the WTA stars when it came to knowledge about Swift. She quickly named the pop star’s 12th studio album and revealed that “Elizabeth Taylor” is her favorite song.

‘The Life Of A Showgirl,’ duh. Every month is different, but ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ is like the most consistent in terms of how I like it [speaking about her favorite song from the album],” Świątek said.

On the tennis side of things, Gauff, Anisimova, and Pegula are set to compete in the 2026 Dubai Tennis Championships. All three players are seeded in the tournament and will begin their campaigns in the second round after receiving first-round byes.

Anisimova, seeded second, will face Barbora Krejčíková in her opening match. Meanwhile, Gauff, seeded third, will take on the winner of the first-round match between Jeļena Ostapenko and Anna Kalinskaya in the second round. Fourth seed Pegula is scheduled to face either qualifier Varvara Gracheva or qualifier Rebecca Šramková in the second round.

In addition to her singles campaign at the WTA 1000 hard-court tournament in Dubai, Pegula is also competing in the doubles event alongside Giuliana Olmos. They have advanced to the second round, where they will face the second-seeded duo of Elise Mertens and Zhang Shuai.

Just before the commencement of the 2026 Dubai Tennis Championships, Świątek withdrew from the tournament due to a scheduling conflict. Osaka also withdrew from the WTA 1000 event due to a recurring abdominal injury, the same injury that caused her to withdraw from her third-round match at the 2026 Australian Open last month.
