Kate Hudson Reveals Why She and Mom Goldie Hawn ‘Never Talk About Acting’ – Closer Weekly

Kate Hudson does not seek advice from her mom, Goldie Hawn, about acting.

The Almost Famous actress, 46, appeared on the Thursday, February 12 episode of Deadline’s The Actor’s Side with Pete Hammond to discuss her latest film Song Sung Blue, for which she is nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars.

During the episode, the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star recalled how the Cactus Flower actress, 80, interviewed her at a January 13 screening of the film at the Grove in Los Angeles.

“It was so much fun for her to ask me questions about my process,” Hudson remarked. “We never talk about acting.”

Hudson, who calls Hawn’s long-term partner, Kurt Russell, her dad, explained they “talk about film” and “experiences,” noting that the Death Becomes Her actress and the Fast & Furious star, 74, are “not stage parents.”

Additionally, Hudson explained that growing up, her parents encouraged her to hone her craft by taking classes in theater and movement.

“It was always more about me learning my craft versus them trying to give me advice,” she shared.

As for their methods, Hudson said she and her mom are “totally different actors,” describing Hawn as “spontaneous” and someone who will “go off book.”

However, Hudson said she and Russell are similar in how they work.

“And Kurt is the other way. Which is, Kurt is all story. His scripts look like, you know, a mad scientist,” she joked. “I’m a little more like my dad in that way.”
