The World No. 4 returned to action at the United Cup with Team Germany, then entered Melbourne Park as the third seed with high hopes of clinching the title. However, despite falling short in his run, the Hamburg native delivered a spectacular performance in his semifinal against Alcaraz.

Their clash lasted 5 hours and 27 minutes, etching history as the longest semifinal in tournament history. The five-set thriller was clinched by Alcaraz, who went on to win the title and became the youngest player to complete the Career Grand Slam, joining the elite.

Now Zverev is spending quality time with his girlfriend, Thomalla, whom he has been dating since 2020. The couple is also pet parents to an adorable dachshund named Mishka, and through their pet’s Instagram account, they shared a resplendent glimpse of the family, adding in the caption, “That’s the whole story. 🖤🩶.” Thomalla also shared the same picture through her Instagram story.

However, the couple’s separation rumours were sparked after Sports Illustrated revealed Zverev was seen at the Australian Open with another German model and fashion influencer, Caroline Daur, who was previously linked to David and Victoria Beckham’s child, Romeo Beckham.

The British tabloid, the Daily Mail, also reported on Zverev’s breakup with Thomalla, after stating that Daur was present when the German star clashed in his quarterfinal match at the Australian Open. She was also seen attending the Australian Open with Eva Lys.

Sophia is someone who gives me peace and security. I play extremely well with her behind me and I hope that will continue to be the case next year and maybe even better. I haven’t achieved all of my goals yet.”

Along with her modelling career, Zverev’s girlfriend is also a television presenter and actress. She was previously married to Norwegian singer Andy LaPlegua from 2016 to 2017.
