Lindsey Vonn has returned to training for the 2026 Winter Olympics after much-needed therapy over the New Year. She hopes to compete in the Cortina Games one final time before retiring fully from alpine skiing. The 41-year-old achieved a historic feat this year, becoming the oldest skier to win a World Cup gold in the downhill event.
Lindsey Vonn Exudes Confidence After Therapy as She Heads Back To Training
Vonn has gone under the knife several times for the slew of injuries she suffered throughout her skiing career. However, that never stopped her from dreaming or considering another attempt, six years after her initial retirement. She underwent partial knee replacement surgery in 2024, and just months later, she was competing in the downhill at the FIS Fall Festival in Copper Mountain before marking her much-anticipated comeback in the Super-G.
During the 2025-26 season, Vonn recorded three podium finishes and qualified for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Ahead of that, she underwent needle therapy on New Year’s, gearing up for the intense schedule in the coming days. She shared a picture of her leg injected with multiple needles, captioning it:
“All tuned up…”
The 83-time World Cup winner celebrated the holiday season with her loved ones, including her friends and sister, Karin. She shared a carousel of photos on social media showcasing her off days filled with cozy couch time, fitting sessions, and celebrations with friends.

Vonn Remembers the Close Ones She Lost in Recent Years
Vonn’s success has not always been shared by both of her parents. She lost her mother, Linda Kraus, to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis after a yearlong battle. The tragic passing of her parent in 2022 prompted the alpine skier to advocate for ALS awareness and provide aid to others going through similar experiences.
Another beloved member of the 41-year-old’s family was her Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Lucy, who had been her companion since 2016, traveling with her to race venues and joining her on countless adventures. Vonn lost her dog to kidney failure in March 2025, just days after she earned her first podium finish in seven years.
In an Instagram post, she remembered her loved ones and captioned:
“Remembering my angels… hope I made you proud this year. I miss you every day. Love you all.”
Vonn was also involved with the Laureus World Sports Awards and made several event appearances. She celebrated two decades with Red Bull, joined the advisory board of Athena Capital, and launched her eponymous fashion collection in 2025.
